Selfish or Selfless?

It was really an uneasy feeling once I received a call from the afternoon session senior assistant, alerting me about a complain lodged by a senior teacher upon the activities held at the school compound recently. The report claimed that the school superior failed to operate the institution aligned with Malaysia education policy, which is the failure to protect instructional time as one of the core business in our line. It made my jaw dropped and my brain frozen for seconds battling hard to understand what is really going on!

For me, it is likely a type of slandering the school administrators as a whole. In reality, all activities were well planned and transparently discussed prior execution. Upon investigation, I learnt that the teacher was unhappy for being uninformed and uninvolved when the decision was made by the Principal, SLTs and MLTs. Sigh..! The word 'Selfish' was repeatedly uttered making me wonder a lot about what we had gone through all these while. Selfish? That's not a good word to portray what we have done as I found that most of us had been selfless carrying out our duly duties and playing our parts as Medinians.

Being a selfish person means one is being excessively concerned with oneself, one's own advantage and one's own needs without regarding for the need or feelings of others. Selfishness can be seen as the opposite of altruism or selflessness. On the other hand, selfless means being kind and generous to others, being altruistic especially to those in need. And now I wonder, are we being  selfish or selfless when operating the school, handling all the responsibilities or confronting the hassles up to the date? 🥺 Sigh again! Nevertheless, bringing altogether to achieve the mission is tough but  I will never stop nor surrender until my mission is accomplished.
